Emirates To Launch Haneda Flights

Emirates has announced plans to launch a new service to Tokyo Haneda airport later this year.

Commencing on 3 June 2013, the Dubai-based airline will offer direct daily flights to Japan’s busiest airport, complementing its existing service to Tokyo Narita airport.

Located in the Tokyo district of Ota, Haneda handles the majority of domestic flights for the Japanese capital. Following the launch of a new terminal and runway, it also now serves a growing number of international flights, and last year the airport handled more than 65 million passengers.

Emirates will serve Haneda with daily flights using its Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, equipped with 266 seats – eight in first class, 42 in business class and 216 in economy. Flights will depart Dubai at 0935 and arrive at Haneda at 0001 the following day. The return flight will depart at Tokyo at 0130 and arrive back into Dubai at 0705.

“As Emirates’ third gateway in Japan, the Dubai to Haneda route will help to build on the vibrant relationship between the United Arab Emirates and Japan, in terms of trade and increasing the opportunities for business and tourism,” said Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ executive vice president of passenger sales worldwide.

“Emirates has been operating to Japan since 2002 when we introduced non-stop flights to Osaka; our commitment continued when we launched flights to Narita International Airport in 2010. We are confident that the demand in terms of both passengers and cargo is strong enough to warrant Emirates operating non-stop, daily flights to both of Tokyo’s airports, offering our passengers more flexibility on the route to Dubai and onwards.”

The new Dubai-Haneda service will also be added to Emirates codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines.

Emirates now flies to 128 destinations, including three in Japan – Osaka, Tokyo Narita and Tokyo Haneda.
